I really enjoyed everything that was covered in today's class. I thought the class itself has been the fastest class to date - the time flew by! I felt actively engaged and intrigued by the activities and topics that were covered. I think that I took a lot from the discussion and examples on story problem structures. I know that I struggled and had a hard time growing up understanding and dealing with story problem questions and after looking at the different structures: join, separate, part-part-whole, and compare, it helped me dissect and appreciate how they are constructed and ways to help students (and myself) come to an answer in an easier way.
Station Reflection
The stations worked so well toady - I think that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the stations, including myself! Some of the pros to the stations that I liked was the fact that it was a very fun and engaging way to get students trying out different math methods with games and activities. I liked the stations because the rotations were smooth and easy to maneuver. Some of the cons that could come from stations would be the time that some stations may require to explain to students. Although, this could be an easy fix due to it being easy to observe and help during the rotations. A suggestion that may make it easier to have all students be able to experience and try each station in a timely manner would be to have timed stations. If there was a limit and a timer that goes off at the end of each station, the class could rotate and move to each and every station in a timely, easy manner. I think that the stations worked very well in our classroom and would work well in an elementary level classroom because of the fact that it is so engaging and fun for students. This created the "need to know" in our classroom.
